4 Black-Owned Wellness Brands to Support Juneteenth and Beyond
Every year, on June 19th, Black Americans celebrate their true Independence Day, Juneteenth—in which the emancipation proclamation formally went into effect. Although it isn’t an official holiday (yet!) the day still calls for commemorating our liberation and progression over the years.
In honor of Juneteenth, we’ve rounded up a selection of Black-owned wellness brands to support—today and beyond, that uplift their community.
Kinapure founder Mildred Mawusi Agbana partnered with the women of Daboya in Northern Ghana to buy raw shea butter and make shea butter skincare products for the socially conscious consumer. “Kinapure’s vision is to enhance the global legacy of Ghanaian women through ethical and sustainable shea butter and other indigenous raw ingredients,” says Agbana. Kinapure offers a selection of shea butter moisturizers in a variety of fragrances, as well as raw shea butter and African Black soap. Along with collaborating with other indie beauty brands to provide them with ethical shea butter, Kinapure is currently building a shea processing center in Ghana.
